Overview
The elastomeric sealing ring with HVOF combines the flexibility of advanced elastomers with the durability of high-velocity oxygen fuel coatings. This design ensures strong sealing performance, reduces wear, and extends service life under demanding operating conditions.
Materials and Coating
The sealing ring uses high-performance elastomers such as FKM or HNBR, offering excellent resistance to heat, pressure, and chemicals. The HVOF coating, typically tungsten carbide or similar alloys, provides a dense, wear-resistant layer on the mating surface, giving both strength and durability.
Manufacturing Process
The elastomer is precisely molded to tight tolerances, while the metal surface receives an HVOF coating. During spraying, particles bond at supersonic speed, forming a low-porosity layer. Final grinding and polishing create a smooth surface that protects the elastomer and ensures reliable sealing.
Applications
This sealing solution is ideal for high-stress environments, including aerospace engines, turbines, and heavy industrial systems. It resists abrasion, erosion, and chemical attack while maintaining flexibility, which minimizes leakage risks and reduces maintenance costs.
Maintenance
Regular inspection of the elastomer ensures long-lasting performance. When the coating shows wear, the HVOF layer can be refurbished, restoring the component without full replacement. This reduces downtime and improves cost efficiency.
